Coriander is the new favorite herb in Britain. This herb is widely used in Asian curries and stir-fries; hence, the popularity has grown a lot recently. According to a study, last year about 30 million packs of coriander were sold. Parsley stood second with 19 million packs sold.

The study also revealed that about thirty percent of the world population had started experimenting foreign cuisine such as Mexican, Thai, and Chinese food that make use of this delicious herb. Italian cuisine also has wide use of coriander herb to add up to the flavors. The celebrity chefs and an increasing number of television cookery shows have led to the popularity of Asian cuisine.

‘Greater availability of ingredients, international travel and more exposure to food in the media are all factors in driving popularity of ingredients.’

Chef Mark Sargeant, who runs the Rocksalt restaurant in Folkestone, Kent, added: ‘It’s great that people are embracing cooking at home and making the most of the great range of new ingredients and cuisines we have access to today.
