There are various superfoods that we have not even heard of but which are very good for health. Chlorella is a superfood which is a fresh water algae plant that can be consumed in powder, liquid or supplement form. It contains folic acid, vitamin B12, C and K and rich in antioxidants.

Black soybeans which are used in Japanese cooking is known for its weight loss properties. Teff is an Ethiopian grain with mild nutty flavor and it is gluten free and is known as the next superfood because of its high protein content. Canary seeds known as bird feed are now known as superfood because of its high protein. Buffaloberry is also a great superfood because of antioxidants and carotenoids found in them.

Prevention Magazine named canary seeds a superfood to watch out for in 2014, citing a 2013 study by the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry suggesting that canary seeds “bred specifically for human consumption” could make a good, gluten-free cereal.
