Followers learn how to pair the right foods, and eat them every few hours to stave off hunger pangs .

You’re likely to feel a little shock to your system in the first three weeks of the diet, which is a period its creators call the Metabolism Makeover. The foods eaten and workouts performed over these first 21 days jumpstart your metabolism and encourage your body to burn fat.

The Metabolism Makeover period rules out processed conveniences and alcohol and encourages you to focus on natural whole foods instead. It also introduces you to a range of useful weight loss strategies including keeping a food, water, and exercise diary, choosing healthy fats, eating more fiber, and getting a full night’s sleep.

After the Metabolism Makeover comes a longer term plan, known as Food Lovers for Life.
