Lemon Verbena – Outdoor Herbs

Growing herbs outdoors can be a bit of a challenge especially when you need to decide where to pot or plant them.

One of the best ways to plant them is in your backyard or kitchen window sill as this way you would be able to use the herbs easily while cooking. Thus, it’s good to grow thyme, tarragon mint, and chives within easy access. You can also grow the annual herbs such as coriander, basil, and parsley in pot.

The herbs can be used in various interesting ways?

For some herbs, pots may not be enough as they quickly grow into a bed.
Some popular perennials that you may grow include oregano, sage, thyme,
chamomile, and rosemary. The herbs can be used in various interesting
ways to enhance the flavor of your food or make herbal teas.

It is tricky to grow lemon verbena from seed, so I bought a small plant from Castle Howard’s nursery in
North Yorkshire (you can buy the plants anywhere, but Castle Howard is
near to my mother in law’s home and their prices are cheaper than
London). Don’t start hacking at the leaves as soon as you plant it (this
is true of all plants) because it needs time to establish. After its
first year in the soil it will grow lilac flowers. I planted mine in May
